Genetics Counselor

Middlesex Health is seeking a Genetics Counselor to provide expert genetic risk assessment, counseling, and testing coordination for patients and families. In this role, you will obtain detailed personal and family histories, interpret complex genetic data, explain test options and results, and support informed decision-making. You will collaborate closely with physicians, oncology, maternal-fetal medicine, and primary care teams to integrate genetics into patient care. Responsibilities

• Provide genetic counseling to patients and families across oncology, prenatal, and other specialties
• Collect and analyze detailed personal and family medical histories
• Recommend, coordinate, and facilitate appropriate genetic and genomic testing
• Interpret genetic test results and communicate findings in an understandable manner
• Assess hereditary risk and guide patients through screening and prevention options
• Document encounters, risk assessments, and recommendations in the medical record
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians in multidisciplinary care
• Provide resources and psychosocial support to patients facing complex decisions
• Participate in quality improvement, education, and community outreach initiatives
• Maintain current knowledge of advances in medical genetics and applicable guidelines
