Director Surgical Services

Middlesex Health seeks a Director of Surgical Services to lead all perioperative operations across our integrated health system. This role oversees OR, pre-op, PACU, sterile processing, and ambulatory surgery, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care. The director will drive performance improvement, manage budgets and staffing, support surgeons and clinical teams, and champion evidence-based practice. In our patient-centered, collaborative culture, you will mentor leaders, advance clinical quality, optimize patient flow, and help shape strategic growth of surgical services across the Middlesex Health network.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all surgical and perioperative services across the health system
• Ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered surgical care and regulatory compliance
• Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for surgical services
• Direct OR scheduling, patient flow, and resource utilization to maximize efficiency
• Recruit, mentor, and evaluate nursing and perioperative leadership teams
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and ancillary departments on clinical initiatives
• Implement evidence-based practices and quality improvement projects
• Monitor key performance indicators and drive performance improvement
• Support strategic planning and growth of surgical programs and service lines
• Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and staff engagement
