Legacy Health is seeking an RN Critical Response Nurse to deliver rapid, expert care to deteriorating and high-acuity patients across our Portland-area facilities. In this role, you will respond to clinical emergencies, perform advanced assessments, initiate evidence-based interventions, and collaborate closely with physicians, ICU teams, and bedside nurses. You will support safe transfers to higher levels of care, educate staff on early warning signs, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives in a compassionate, mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide rapid response clinical care to deteriorating or high-acuity patients across hospital units
- Perform comprehensive assessments, initiate evidence-based interventions, and stabilize patients
- Administer medications, therapies, and advanced nursing procedures per protocols and provider orders
- Collaborate with physicians, ICU teams, and unit nurses to coordinate critical care plans
- Monitor vital signs, labs, and diagnostics; escalate concerns and activate higher levels of care
- Educate and support bedside staff in early recognition of clinical deterioration
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
- Participate in code blue and rapid response events, debriefs, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support safe patient transfers to higher levels of care, including ICU and specialty units
- Contribute to a culture of safety, continuous learning, and patient-centered care
