Medical Underwriting Manager

Allied National Inc seeks a Medical Underwriting Manager to lead a team evaluating health insurance risks for small and mid-sized employer groups. In this role, you'll oversee complex case underwriting, set pricing strategies, and ensure adherence to company guidelines and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of medical underwriters, setting goals and performance standards
• Review and approve complex and large-group health underwriting cases
• Develop and refine underwriting guidelines, policies, and pricing strategies
• Analyze claims experience and risk factors to determine appropriate rates and plan designs
• Collaborate with sales, actuarial, and product teams on proposals and renewals
• Ensure compliance with state and federal insurance regulations and company policies
• Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions for underperforming blocks of business
• Implement process improvements and underwriting automation tools to increase efficiency
• Provide training and technical guidance on medical underwriting methodologies and tools
• Prepare management reports and present underwriting results and trends to leadership
