Allied National Inc. seeks a Large Group Stop Loss Underwriter to evaluate and price medical stop loss risk for level-funded and alternative group health plans. You will analyze claims data, demographics, and risk factors to develop competitive, profitable quotes for brokers and employers nationwide. Partnering closely with sales, actuarial, and claims teams, you'll support innovative benefit designs, manage renewals, and monitor portfolio performance. Responsibilities
- Underwrite large group medical stop loss cases within established authority and guidelines
- Analyze claims experience, demographic data, and risk indicators to price level-funded and alternative health plans
- Develop and present stop loss quotes and proposals to brokers and internal sales teams
- Collaborate with sales, claims, and actuarial resources to ensure competitive and profitable plan designs
- Assess renewal performance and recommend adjustments to rates, lasers, and contract terms
- Monitor portfolio performance to maintain target profitability and risk tolerance
- Document underwriting decisions and maintain accurate records in underwriting systems
- Stay current on market trends, regulations, and competitor products in stop loss and level-funded plans
- Support process improvements and tools that enhance underwriting accuracy and speed
- Provide responsive, service-oriented support to internal and external partners
