Aspire Chicago seeks a Manager, Grants Accounting to lead all aspects of grant and contract financial management for mission-driven disability services. This role oversees grant budgeting, compliance, reporting, and reconciliations across federal, state, local, and private awards, ensuring timely, accurate invoicing and revenue recognition. The Manager partners with Program and Development teams to develop proposals, monitor spending, and forecast funding needs. They will supervise key grant accounting processes, support audits, strengthen internal controls, and translate financial data into clear insights that help advance inclusive, person-centered programs across Chicagoland.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of grants and contract accounting, including budgeting, billing, and revenue recognition.
  • Prepare timely, accurate financial reports for federal, state, local, and private funders.
  • Ensure compliance with grant terms, OMB Uniform Guidance, and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Partner with Program and Development teams on proposal budgets, forecasts, and spending plans.
  • Monitor grant expenditures, reconcile to the general ledger, and resolve variances.
  • Support annual audits and funder monitoring visits with required schedules and documentation.
  • Develop and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures for grants management.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership to guide strategic program decisions.
  • Supervise or mentor staff supporting grant billing, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Promote Aspire Chicago's person-centered, inclusive culture in all financial practices.
