Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Pediatric Intermediate Care Unit

Boston Children's Hospital seeks a per diem Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Intermediate Care Unit. In this role, you'll manage high-acuity pediatric patients requiring close monitoring, conduct comprehensive assessments, develop and adjust care plans, order and interpret tests, and collaborate closely with attending physicians and the care team. You will support family-centered care, provide education to patients and caregivers, and contribute to a mission-driven, innovative environment dedicated to pediatric excellence and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practice care for pediatric patients in the Intermediate Care Unit
• Perform comprehensive histories, physical exams, and ongoing patient assessments
• Develop, implement, and adjust evidence-based care plans in collaboration with physicians
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
• Prescribe and manage medications following hospital and regulatory guidelines
• Participate in emergency response and stabilization of deteriorating patients
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Document care thoroughly in the electronic medical record
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support safe transitions of care
• Contribute to quality improvement, education, and unit-based initiatives
