Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Emergency Medicine

Boston Children's Hospital seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Emergency Medicine team. In this pediatric-focused role, you will rapidly assess, diagnose, and manage acute and complex conditions, order and interpret tests, perform procedures, and prescribe treatments. You'll collaborate closely with attending physicians and a multidisciplinary team, support pediatric codes, educate families, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives in a mission-driven, teaching-hospital environment committed to innovation and child health.

Responsibilities

• Perform rapid assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric patients in the emergency department
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including labs and imaging
• Perform emergency procedures within scope (e.g., suturing, splinting, IV access)
• Prescribe medications and develop evidence-based treatment plans
• Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
• Communicate clearly with patients' families, providing education and discharge instructions
• Participate in pediatric emergency codes and stabilization for transfer or admission
• Document encounters accurately in the electronic health record
• Support quality improvement, safety initiatives, and clinical protocols
• Precept or mentor trainees as appropriate
