Endoscopy Technician

As an Endoscopy Equipment Technician I at Boston Children's Hospital, you will inspect, clean, test, and maintain endoscopy systems and accessories to support safe, high-quality pediatric care. Working within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, you'll prepare endoscopy suites, troubleshoot basic equipment issues, document maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with infection prevention and safety standards. In our mission-driven, innovative environment, you'll collaborate with nurses, physicians, and biomedical engineers to support state-of-the-art, minimally invasive procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up endoscopy equipment and accessories for pediatric procedures.
• Perform thorough cleaning, disinfection, and basic maintenance of endoscopes and related devices.
• Conduct functional checks, identify minor equipment issues, and perform first-line troubleshooting.
• Document maintenance, testing, and repairs in hospital systems, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and biomedical engineers to support safe, efficient workflows.
• Maintain inventory of endoscopy instruments, parts, and disposables, and report replenishment needs.
• Follow infection prevention, safety, and quality protocols in all reprocessing and handling tasks. Support orientation of clinical staff on proper handling and basic care of endoscopy equipment.

• Flexible and rigid scope handling
• Endoscope cleaning and high-level disinfection
• Use of automated endoscope reprocessors (AERs)
• Equipment functional testing and basic troubleshooting
