Ascension is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery to provide compassionate, family-centered care to mothers and newborns. In this role, you'll manage patients through all stages of labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum, perform thorough maternal-newborn assessments, monitor fetal well-being, and administer medications and interventions following evidence-based protocols. You'll collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and support staff in a diverse, inclusive culture that values continuous learning, clinical excellence, and professional growth within a mission-driven, community-focused health system.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to Labor & Delivery patients through all phases of childbirth
  • Monitor and interpret fetal heart rate and uterine activity, responding to changes promptly
  • Perform comprehensive maternal and newborn assessments and document in the EHRAdminister medications, IV therapies, and obstetric interventions per provider orders and protocols
  • Assist with vaginal deliveries and support cesarean sections as part of the perioperative team
  • Educate and support patients and families on labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
  • Respond to obstetric emergencies and participate in rapid response situations
  • Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and support staff to coordinate care
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and culturally sensitive environment aligned with infection control standards
  • Participate in ongoing education, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives
