Responsibilities

  • Provide direct postpartum nursing care to mothers and newborns, including assessments, vital signs monitoring, and lactation support
  • Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
  • Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate care plans
  • Continuously monitor patient conditions, respond to changes, and escalate concerns promptly
  • Document all patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Promote a safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care environment aligned with Ascension's mission
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and follow infection prevention and safety standards
