Responsibilities
- Provide direct postpartum nursing care to mothers and newborns, including assessments, vital signs monitoring, and lactation support
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, lactation consultants, and interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate care plans
- Continuously monitor patient conditions, respond to changes, and escalate concerns promptly
- Document all patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record
- Promote a safe, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care environment aligned with Ascension's mission
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and follow infection prevention and safety standards
