Market District is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to support our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you'll assist pharmacists with filling prescriptions, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail pharmacy setting. You'll learn proper medication handling, data entry, and insurance processing while ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with processing new and refill prescriptions under direct supervision
  • Enter and update patient, prescriber, and medication information in the pharmacy computer system
  • Count, pour, label, and package medications accurately for pharmacist verification
  • Handle customer interactions at the pharmacy counter, including check in, pick up, and basic inquiries
  • Operate the pharmacy point of sale system and process cash, credit, and insurance transactions
  • Support insurance claim processing by gathering necessary information and communicating basic issues to the pharmacist or technician
  • Help maintain medication inventory, including receiving orders, stocking shelves, and rotating products to reduce waste
  • Monitor and help manage prescription wait times, informing customers of status and ensuring timely service
  • Answer phones, route calls appropriately, and take accurate messages for pharmacy staff
  • Follow all state and federal regulations, company policies, and safety standards, including HIPAA and patient privacy requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the pharmacy area
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, technicians, and store team members to support overall store and pharmacy goals
  • Participate in on the job training and complete required learning modules to progress in the trainee role
