As a Sterile Processing Technician II at Boston Children's Hospital, you will perform advanced decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical devices to support pediatric patient care. Working in a state-of-the-art, fast-paced environment, you'll inspect and test complex instrument sets, operate and troubleshoot sterilization equipment, maintain accurate tracking and documentation, and collaborate closely with OR and clinical teams. You will follow strict infection prevention and safety standards to ensure high-quality, reliable sterile products for children's procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot sterilizers, washers, and related SPD equipment
  • Inspect, test, and maintain complex instrument sets for functionality and completeness
  • Use instrument tracking systems for labeling, documentation, and tray traceability
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention, quality, and safety standards
  • Communicate and coordinate with OR, clinics, and other departments regarding instrument needs
  • Manage case carts and instrument turnaround to meet surgical schedules
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior sterile processing staff
  • Participate in quality audits, process improvement, and regulatory preparedness
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, biological indicators, and equipment maintenance
