Boston Children's Hospital seeks a part-time Pediatric Registered Dietitian II to join our Cardiac/PECAN team in Healthcare & Medical Services. In this role, you will provide evidence-based nutrition assessment, counseling, and care planning for pediatric cardiac patients, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other specialists. Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pediatric nutrition assessment and individualized care plans for cardiac and PECAN patients in inpatient and/or ambulatory settings.
- Collaborate closely with cardiology, intensive care, nursing, speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and other team members to optimize nutrition care and clinical outcomes.
- Manage and monitor enteral and parenteral nutrition regimens, including formula selection, advancement, tolerance assessment, and adjustment based on clinical status and growth.
- Interpret anthropometric data, growth trends, and relevant laboratory values to guide nutrition interventions and ongoing adjustments.
- Deliver clear, compassionate education and counseling to patients and families on specialized cardiac and complex nutrition needs, feeding plans, and long-term nutrition strategies.
- Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
- Participate in patient rounds, case conferences, and multidisciplinary meetings to advocate for nutrition-related needs and contribute to care planning.
- Support quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives related to pediatric nutrition, feeding practices, and clinical protocols.
- Incorporate current evidence-based guidelines and emerging research into daily nutrition practice, and contribute to program development where appropriate.
- Precept or mentor students or less experienced staff as appropriate for a Dietitian II role and model the hospital's mission-driven, family-centered care values.
