Medical Laboratory Scientist

Avera Health is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist to join our Laboratory Services team. In this role, you will perform routine and complex diagnostic testing, analyze patient samples, and ensure accurate, timely results that directly impact patient care. Responsibilities include specimen collection and processing, operating and maintaining lab instruments, following quality control procedures, and documenting results in the LIS. You will collaborate with a compassionate, multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced hospital setting, supported by Avera's culture of hospitality, stewardship, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex diagnostic tests in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and urinalysis
• Collect, label, and process patient specimens following established protocols
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and instruments
• Verify, interpret, and report accurate and timely test results to providers
• Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures to meet regulatory standards
• Document work in the Laboratory Information System and maintain accurate records
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, and lab staff to support patient care
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment
