Production Grinding Operator

Charter Aarrowcast, a leading iron foundry in Shawano, WI, is seeking a Production Grinding Operator to support finishing of gray and ductile iron castings. In this role, you'll operate grinding equipment, remove excess material, and ensure castings meet dimensional and surface specifications. You will inspect parts, record production and quality data, and follow strict safety and housekeeping standards. Working in a fast paced foundry environment, you'll collaborate with a skilled team, receive technical training, and contribute to continuous improvement and reliable product quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor grinding and finishing equipment for gray and ductile iron castings
• Inspect castings for defects, measurements, and surface quality to meet specifications
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and 5
• S/housekeeping standards in the foundry
• Read and follow production schedules, work instructions, and quality documentation
• Perform basic equipment checks, cleaning, and minor preventive maintenance
• Handle, move, and stage castings using appropriate material handling tools
• Record production, scrap, and quality data accurately in shop systems or forms
• Communicate issues with equipment, quality, or safety to supervisors and maintenance
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily output and quality targets
• Participate in continuous improvement, training, and cross training activities

Required Skills

• Foundry or heavy manufacturing experience
• Grinding and deburring of metal components
• Reading basic blueprints or work instructions
• Use of calipers, gauges, and measuring tools
• Quality inspection of castings and metal parts
• Safe operation of powered hand tools and grinders
• Basic equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance
• Material handling and safe lifting practices
• Understanding of safety and PPE in industrial environments
• Basic data entry or production reporting
