The Preserve Rehab and Living Center, a Volunteers of America senior care community in Bangor, ME, seeks a compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant to support residents in short-term rehab and long-term care. Working closely with a Physical Therapist and an interdisciplinary team, you will provide therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and functional activities that promote safety, independence, and quality of life. Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic exercises and treatments under direction of a Physical Therapist to support resident mobility and function
- Assist with resident evaluations by gathering data, observing movement, and documenting responses to treatment
- Instruct residents in safe use of assistive devices, mobility techniques, and home exercise programs
- Document treatments, resident progress, and responses in the electronic medical record accurately and timely
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care plans and support person-centered goals
- Educate residents and families on therapy goals, safety, and strategies to maintain independence
- Ensure therapy equipment is clean, safe, and used according to facility and regulatory standards
- Comply with state and federal regulations, facility policies, and ethical standards of practice
- Support discharge planning by providing input on functional status and equipment needs
- Contribute to a positive, compassionate environment aligned with the organization's mission
