Registered Nurse Surgical Intermediate Care

Ascension seeks a Registered Nurse for our Surgical Intermediate Care unit. In this role, you will deliver evidence-based, compassionate care to post-surgical patients requiring close monitoring. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, telemetry monitoring, IV medications, wound care, and coordination with an interdisciplinary team. You will educate patients and families, support safe transitions of care, and precept newer staff as needed. Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to surgical intermediate care patients
• Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status and response to treatment
• Administer IV medications, fluids, and blood products per protocol
• Perform wound care, drains management, and post-operative interventions
• Interpret and respond to telemetry and vital sign trends
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff on care plans
• Educate patients and families on procedures, medications, and discharge care
• Maintain accurate EHR documentation and follow safety/infection control standards
• Support orientation and precepting of new nurses or students
• Participate in quality improvement and unit-based practice initiatives
