Occupational Therapist
Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Spinal Cord & Neuromuscular Team. In this role, you will assess and treat patients with complex spinal cord and neuromuscular conditions, designing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans to maximize independence and functional outcomes. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and an interdisciplinary rehab team, provide education to patients and families, and contribute to discharge planning. Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with spinal cord and neuromuscular conditions and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver evidence-based inpatient occupational therapy interventions to restore function and independence
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members on coordinated care plans
- Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, equipment, and home programs
- Document assessments, treatment sessions, and progress in the electronic medical record
- Participate in care conferences and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions of care
- Contribute to quality improvement, clinical best practices, and program development
- Provide mentorship to students or new staff as needed and pursue ongoing professional development
