Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse Med Surg Oncology to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to adult patients with complex medical and oncology needs. In this inpatient role, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans; administer medications, infusions, and cancer-related therapies; and closely monitor patient status. You will educate patients and families, support symptom and pain management, and coordinate interdisciplinary care and safe discharges. Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to medical-surgical and oncology patients across the continuum of illness.
  • Administer medications, blood products, and cancer-related therapies per provider orders and safety protocols.
  • Continuously assess, monitor, and document patient status, communicating changes to the care team promptly.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments, symptom management, and discharge plans.
  • Ensure infection prevention, fall reduction, and chemo/biotherapy safety standards are followed at all times.
  • Precept, mentor, and collaborate with nursing colleagues to support learning and professional growth.
  • Use EMR and clinical technology accurately for documentation, orders, and care coordination.
  • Participate in quality improvement, safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice projects on the unit.
  • Demonstrate Ascension's mission and values by providing compassionate, culturally competent care.
