Registered Nurse Ortho

As a Registered Nurse Ortho at Ascension, you will provide evidence-based orthopedic and post-surgical care for patients in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessments, medication administration, wound and pain management, and coordination of individualized care plans. You will educate patients and families on recovery and mobility, document in the EMR, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring for orthopedic patients
• Administer medications and treatments per provider orders and protocols
• Manage post-operative care, including wound care, mobility support, and pain management
• Develop, implement, and adjust individualized patient care plans
• Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and home care instructions
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMRCollaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care
• Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards
• Participate in quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Support orientation and mentoring of new staff as needed
