Ascension seeks a Registered Nurse Clinical Lead for our MedSurg Oncology unit. In this role, you'll provide direct patient care while offering clinical leadership to bedside staff. You will coordinate complex oncology and med-surg care plans, mentor and precept nurses, and collaborate closely with physicians and the interdisciplinary team. The Clinical Lead supports quality initiatives, promotes patient safety, and ensures adherence to evidence-based practices in a compassionate, inclusive, and learning-focused environment with strong professional growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight for Med
- Surg Oncology nursing staff on assigned unit
- Coordinate and deliver evidence-based patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Support oncology treatment plans, administer medications, and monitor for adverse reactions
- Mentor, coach, and precept nurses and support staff to promote clinical excellence and professional growth
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and families to optimize patient outcomes and discharge planning
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, infection control, and patient safety protocols
- Participate in staffing, scheduling, and workflow optimization to support quality and efficiency
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives, documentation accuracy, and use of clinical technology
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and symptom management
