Ascension is seeking a Registered Nurse for Pre and Post Surgery to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to surgical patients. You will perform comprehensive pre-op assessments, verify histories and medications, and prepare patients for procedures. Post-operatively, you will monitor vital signs, manage pain, assess surgical sites, and provide education on recovery and discharge. Responsibilities

  • Provide pre- and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients following Ascension protocols
  • Conduct patient assessments, obtain histories, and review medications prior to procedures
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and pain management as ordered
  • Monitor vital signs, surgical sites, and overall patient status, escalating concerns promptly
  • Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery expectations, and discharge instructions
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
  • Maintain accurate, timely electronic health records and documentation
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and quality standards in all clinical activities
  • Support patient advocacy, comfort, and emotional needs in a compassionate manner
  • Participate in ongoing training, competency development, and quality improvement initiatives
