As a Registered Nurse Med Surg Oncology at Ascension, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based care to adult patients with complex medical and oncologic needs. You'll perform comprehensive assessments, administer chemotherapy and other treatments, and closely monitor patient status while managing symptoms and side effects. In this patient-focused environment, you will educate patients and families, coordinate interdisciplinary care, and support safe transitions across the continuum. You'll contribute to quality improvement, mentor newer staff, and grow your oncology expertise within a mission-driven, learning-oriented organization committed to innovation and community health.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care to adult med-surg oncology patients, including assessments, medication administration, and monitoring responses to treatment
  • Coordinate complex oncology treatment plans, including chemotherapy, symptom management, and supportive care
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and discharge care plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, therapists, and support staff to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care
  • Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records and comply with all clinical and regulatory standards
  • Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity, supporting emotional and psychosocial needs
  • Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice initiatives, and staff education
  • Precept and mentor new nurses and support ongoing professional development within the team
