Preschool Assistant Teacher

Chesterbrook Academy is seeking a caring Preschool Assistant Teacher to support our academically rich, play-based early childhood program. In this role, you will assist the lead teacher with implementing developmentally appropriate lessons, guiding small-group and individual activities, and maintaining a safe, nurturing classroom. You will help with behavior management, daily routines, and classroom organization while building positive relationships with children and families. The ideal candidate is patient, reliable, and eager to learn, with a passion for early childhood education and collaborating in a supportive, growth-focused school community.

Responsibilities

• Support lead teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate, play-based lessons
• Supervise children to ensure safety and well-being at all times
• Assist with small-group and individual learning activities
• Help manage classroom behavior using positive guidance strategies
• Prepare and organize classroom materials and learning centers
• Support daily routines including meals, rest time, and transitions
• Communicate positively with children, families, and staff
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and nurturing classroom environment
• Observe and report student progress or concerns to lead teacher
• Participate in training and professional development opportunities
