Before and After School Counselor

Merryhill School seeks a caring Before and After School Counselor to support our preschool and elementary students in a safe, structured, and engaging extended-day program. The Counselor will supervise students before and after regular school hours, lead age-appropriate activities, and reinforce our focus on academic support, character development, and positive social skills. Responsibilities include supervising transitions, supporting homework time, organizing games and enrichment projects, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and communicating with families and teachers. This role thrives in our close-knit, student-centered community and offers opportunities for ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in before- and after-school programs, ensuring safety and positive behavior
• Lead and support engaging academic, recreational, and enrichment activities
• Provide homework support and encourage good study habits
• Reinforce school rules and character expectations in a nurturing manner
• Maintain accurate attendance and incident records
• Communicate effectively with families and school staff about student needs
• Assist with snack distribution, room setup, and cleanup
• Follow all school policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols
