The Advocates - PNW seeks a Paralegal Manager to lead a team supporting impact litigation, policy advocacy, and community-driven legal work advancing social and economic justice. Based in Portland, this role oversees paralegal workflows, case management, research, and document production for civil rights and public interest matters. The manager supervises, trains, and mentors paralegals, standardizes procedures, and ensures high-quality, trauma-informed support for clients. You will collaborate closely with attorneys, community partners, and staff in a mission-driven, inclusive environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of paralegals supporting public interest and civil rights matters.
  • Oversee case management, calendars, deadlines, and document workflows to ensure quality and compliance with court rules.
  • Conduct and review legal research, cite-checking, and drafting of pleadings, discovery, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate intake, client communication, and trauma-informed support for vulnerable communities.
  • Develop and standardize paralegal procedures, templates, and best practices to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on litigation, impact cases, and policy advocacy projects.
  • Manage e-discovery, document review, and production using relevant software tools.
  • Track case metrics and prepare reports to support grants, compliance, and program evaluation.
  • Train staff on court rules, filing procedures, and legal technology platforms.
  • Support a collaborative, mission-driven culture centered on equity, inclusion, and staff development.
