Auto Technician

As an Auto Technician at CarMax, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our high standards of vehicle safety and customer satisfaction are met. You will work with top-of-the-line technology in well-equipped facilities to service, diagnose, and repair vehicles while consistently providing a superior customer experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership standards
• Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, air conditioning, etc. to specification
• Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs
• Inspect and test new vehicles for necessary adjustments
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.

Required Skills

• Extensive knowledge of automotive systems and components
• Excellent manual dexterity skills as well as physical stamina
• Strong diagnostic skills and problem-solving ability
• Proficiency with electronic testing equipment
• Ability to communicate clearly and provide excellent customer service
