Estimator

R.T. Moore Co., Inc., a family-owned mechanical contractor, is seeking an Estimator to support plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical construction projects. In this role, you will review plans and specifications, perform material and labor takeoffs, and prepare detailed cost estimates and bids for residential, multi-family, and commercial work. You'll partner closely with project managers, field leaders, and vendors to validate scopes, analyze subcontractor quotes, and track pricing. This position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with estimating and Excel, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and addenda for plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical scopes
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs for residential, multi-family, and commercial projects
• Develop accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages within set deadlines
• Solicit, analyze, and compare subcontractor and supplier quotes for best value
• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to validate scopes and constructability
• Maintain and update pricing databases, historical cost data, and estimating tools
• Identify risks, value engineering options, and alternates to improve project competitiveness
• Participate in bid reviews, handoff meetings, and project budgeting support
• Track awarded projects versus estimates to improve future accuracy
• Communicate clearly with internal teams, vendors, and clients in a fast-paced environment
