A.O. Smith seeks an HVAC Service Technician I to install, start up, troubleshoot, and maintain residential and light commercial water heating and boiler systems. In this field-based role, you will perform diagnostics on gas and electric units, replace components, verify combustion and system performance, and ensure safe, code-compliant operation. You will read schematics, use digital test instruments, document service activities, and communicate findings to customers and internal teams. Responsibilities

  • Install, start up, and service residential and light commercial water heaters and boiler systems
  • Perform diagnostics on gas and electric HVAC and water heating equipment
  • Troubleshoot and replace valves, controls, burners, igniters, and related components
  • Verify safe, efficient operation using combustion analyzers and electrical test instruments
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical service literature
  • Document service activities, parts used, and recommendations in work orders
  • Communicate findings and repair options clearly to customers and internal teams
  • Follow safety procedures, codes, and company standards on every job
  • Maintain service vehicle, tools, and inventory in clean, organized condition
  • Support continuous improvement and training initiatives within the service team
