Drax is seeking a Sustainability Forester to support our renewable energy business by ensuring responsible, certified biomass sourcing. Based near our US operations, you'll plan and manage sustainable forest harvesting, conduct inventories and growth assessments, and monitor forest health to meet certification and regulatory standards. You'll collaborate with landowners, loggers, and suppliers, analyze yield and cost data, and prepare documentation for sustainability audits. In this role, you'll champion Drax's safety-first, low carbon mission while continuously improving field practices across our global biomass supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage sustainable forest harvesting and biomass supply for Drax facilities
  • Conduct on-site forest inventories, growth and yield assessments, and resource modeling
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and sustainability standards and certifications
  • Develop and maintain relationships with landowners, loggers, and biomass suppliers
  • Monitor forest health, biodiversity, and habitat conservation measures
  • Prepare technical reports, maps, and documentation to support certification audits
  • Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and sustainability teams on biomass sourcing strategy
  • Analyze data on wood fiber costs, productivity, and yield to optimize operations
  • Support permitting, regulatory reporting, and stakeholder engagement
  • Promote Drax's safety-first culture and continuous improvement in field practices
