Teacher for the Visually Impaired

RCM Healthcare Services is seeking a Teacher for the Visually Impaired to support students with visual impairments in educational and healthcare-related school settings. In this role, you will conduct functional vision and learning media assessments, develop and implement IEPs, and adapt curriculum and materials using Braille, large print, and assistive technology. You will collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and families, provide direct and consultative services, train staff on accessibility tools, and document student progress while advocating for inclusive, person-centered learning environments.

Responsibilities

• Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
• Develop and implement IEP goals for students with visual impairments
• Adapt curriculum and materials into Braille, large print, and accessible formats
• Integrate and support use of assistive technology and low-vision devices
• Provide direct instruction in visual skills, Braille, and compensatory skills
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families on student support plans
• Train school staff on accessibility strategies and tools
• Monitor, document, and report student progress and outcomes
