Head Start Site Director

The YMCA seeks a Head Start Site Director to lead the daily operations of a high-quality early childhood education site. The Director oversees staff, curriculum, and family engagement to ensure children meet school readiness goals in a safe, inclusive environment. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with Head Start and state licensing regulations, managing budgets and enrollment, supervising and developing staff, and coordinating health, nutrition, and support services. This role collaborates with YMCA leadership and community partners to strengthen families and advance the Y's mission of youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of a YMCA Head Start site, ensuring compliance with federal Head Start and state licensing regulations
• Supervise, coach, and evaluate teaching and support staff to deliver high-quality early childhood education
• Oversee implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and assessment to meet school readiness goals
• Manage site budget, enrollment, attendance, and reporting requirements in alignment with YMCA and funder standards
• Build strong relationships with families, providing support, referrals, and opportunities for family engagement
• Coordinate health, nutrition, and mental health services with community partners and internal YMCA programs
• Monitor classroom quality through observations, data review, and continuous improvement planning
• Ensure a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive environment for children, families, and staff
• Collaborate with YMCA leadership on program goals, staffing, training, and community outreach
• Represent the YMCA and Head Start program in local networks, meetings, and community events
