The YMCA seeks a Family Services Advocate for our Head Start program to support children's success by partnering closely with families. This role conducts intake and family needs assessments, develops family partnership goals, and connects parents to community resources in housing, employment, health, and education. The Advocate promotes consistent attendance, leads family engagement activities, and collaborates with teachers and community partners. Ideal candidates bring nonprofit or social services experience, strong communication skills, cultural humility, and a passion for empowering families in a mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct family intakes and comprehensive needs assessments for Head Start enrollees
  • Develop and monitor individualized family partnership agreements and goals
  • Connect families to community resources in housing, health, employment, and education
  • Support regular attendance and engagement in Head Start services
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and data in compliance with Head Start and YMCA policies
  • Collaborate with teachers and program staff to support child and family success
  • Organize and facilitate family workshops, meetings, and engagement events
  • Advocate for families within the program and with external agencies
  • Monitor progress toward family goals and adjust service plans as needed
  • Promote YMCA values of inclusion, diversity, and social responsibility in all interactions
