Mechanic

Forward Air is seeking a skilled Mechanic to keep our transportation fleet safe, reliable, and ready to move time-critical freight. In this on-site role, you will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot and repair tractors, trailers, and material-handling equipment, and complete DOT and safety inspections. You'll work in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence are core values. Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, and material-handling equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using tools and diagnostic software
• Complete DOT and company safety inspections and documentation
• Respond to breakdowns and support quick turnaround to minimize downtime
• Maintain accurate repair logs, parts usage, and work orders
• Follow all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with operations and drivers to prioritize equipment repairs
• Assist with parts inventory, shop organization, and cleanliness
