Mechanic

Forward Air is seeking a skilled Mechanic to keep our transportation fleet operating safely and reliably in a fast-paced logistics environment. In this role, you will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment supporting expedited LTL and intermodal operations. You'll complete DOT inspections, troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime. Working in a safety-focused, performance-driven culture, you'll collaborate with drivers and operations teams while maintaining accurate maintenance records and a clean, compliant shop.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment to ensure safe operations.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using standard and electronic diagnostic tools.
• Complete DOT inspections and ensure equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.
• Document all maintenance and repairs accurately in company systems.
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent repair needs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with operations and drivers to prioritize repairs and maintain fleet availability.
• Maintain a clean, safe shop environment and follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with parts ordering, inventory, and basic recordkeeping as needed.
