CDL B Operator
GMS Company is seeking a CDL B Operator to join our Transportation & Logistics team. In this role, you will safely operate CDL B trucks to deliver wallboard, ceilings, steel framing, insulation, and related materials from our distribution centers to commercial and residential job sites. You will load, secure, transport, and unload products while performing thorough pre- and post-trip inspections and complying with all DOT and company safety standards. As part of GMS's collaborative, growth-oriented culture, you'll work closely with warehouse and dispatch teams, interact professionally with customers, and support continuous improvement in service and reliability. Responsibilities
- Safely operate CDL B commercial vehicles to transport building materials to commercial and residential job sites
- Load and unload wallboard, ceilings, steel framing, insulation, and related products using appropriate equipment
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, documenting and reporting any mechanical or safety issues
- Secure loads according to DOT and company safety standards to prevent shifting or damage
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and delivery instructions while maintaining on-time performance
- Interact professionally with customers, providing courteous service and resolving basic delivery issues
- Complete required delivery logs, manifests, and electronic documentation accurately
- Collaborate with warehouse and dispatch teams to coordinate efficient routing and loading
- Adhere to all DOT, OSHA, and company safety policies, including use of PPE and safe lifting practices
- Participate in ongoing training and process improvement efforts to support a collaborative, growth-oriented culture
