Driver

Commonwealth Building Materials, Inc. - Williamsburg seeks a safety-focused CDL Driver to deliver drywall, steel, insulation, and related materials to commercial and residential job sites. In this field-based role, you'll perform pre/post-trip inspections, safely load, secure, transport, and unload products (including boom or hand unloads), and provide professional, customer-first service to contractors. You'll work closely with warehouse, dispatch, and sales in a team-oriented, accountable culture, gaining hands-on experience in building supply logistics while supporting a stable, locally focused, safety-minded operation.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate CDL truck to deliver construction materials to commercial and residential job sites
• Load, secure, transport, and unload drywall, steel, insulation, and related products
• Perform pre/post-trip inspections and complete required DOT and company documentation
• Coordinate with warehouse and dispatch to plan efficient, on-time deliveries
• Provide professional, courteous service to contractor customers on-site
• Follow all company and OSHA safety procedures, including use of fall protection and PPEAssist with stock-in and boom/hand unloading at job sites as needed
• Report vehicle maintenance needs and safety concerns promptly
• Collaborate with warehouse, drivers, and sales teams to meet customer needs
• Maintain clean, organized vehicle and uphold company standards on job sites

Required Skills

• CDL Class A or B truck operation
• Safe material loading and securing (chains/straps)
• Experience with drywall and building materials handling
• Forklift operation
• Boom truck or knuckle-boom operation
• DOT/FMCSA compliance and logkeeping
• Route planning and basic navigation/GPS use
• Basic vehicle inspection and defect reporting
