Heavy Equipment Field Technician
Ditch Witch West is seeking a Heavy Equipment Field Technician to support customers across the Western U.S. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain Ditch Witch and related underground construction and trenching equipment directly at customer sites. You'll handle hydraulic, electrical, and diesel engine troubleshooting, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure equipment operates safely and reliably. Working from a service truck, you'll collaborate with our parts and service teams, document all work performed, and provide technical guidance to operators. Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain Ditch Witch and related underground construction equipment in the field
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and safety checks on heavy equipment
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and control system issues using diagnostic tools
- Document work performed, parts used, and recommendations in service records accurately and timely
- Collaborate with parts and service teams to source components and minimize equipment downtime
- Provide on-site technical support and operator guidance to contractor and utility customers
- Follow all safety protocols, site rules, and regulatory requirements while working on customer locations
- Operate service truck, maintain tools and equipment, and ensure a clean, organized work area
- Participate in ongoing technical training and certifications on Ditch Witch and allied products
- Represent Ditch Witch West professionally, building strong, trust-based customer relationships
