Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle hauling refrigerated freight on regional and OTR routes
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of tractor, trailer, and reefer unit, reporting and documenting defects as required
- Manage temperature-controlled freight, including setting and monitoring reefer unit temperatures and ensuring product integrity throughout transit
- Comply with all DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and company safety policies, maintaining accurate electronic logs and required documentation
- Plan routes and manage time effectively to ensure on-time pick-ups and deliveries while maximizing legal driving hours
- Communicate regularly and professionally with dispatch, operations, and customers regarding load status, delays, and any issues affecting service
- Handle basic equipment troubleshooting on the road (e.g., minor reefer adjustments, simple securement checks) and coordinate repairs as needed
- Maintain a clean, professional vehicle and represent K&B Transportation positively with customers and the motoring public
- Adhere to company policies on fuel, safety, load securement, and accident reporting, participating in ongoing safety and compliance training as required
