Zurich Insurance Company Ltd. is seeking an AVP, Underwriting Manager to join our Finance department within the Insurance industry. In this role, you will lead an Excess Casualty underwriting team, develop and execute risk selection and pricing strategies, and ensure portfolio profitability and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with Finance and Risk Management to minimize financial exposure and support strategic growth. Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an excess casualty underwriting team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management
  • Oversee underwriting of complex excess casualty accounts, ensuring appropriate risk selection and pricing
  • Set and execute underwriting and portfolio strategies to achieve targeted growth and profitability
  • Analyze portfolio performance metrics and implement corrective actions to maintain rate adequacy and loss ratio targets
  • Review and approve complex account structures, limits, attachment points, and policy wording
  • Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, Claims, Legal, and Risk Engineering to shape risk and pricing strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers, agents, and large commercial clients
  • Ensure compliance with Zurich underwriting guidelines, internal controls, and applicable regulations
  • Contribute to product and coverage development based on emerging casualty trends and market conditions
  • Promote an inclusive, collaborative culture and support professional development within the team
