Hospital Services Technician

WM is hiring a Hospital Services Swing Technician to support medical facilities with safe, efficient waste and environmental services. In this role you'll collect, segregate, and stage medical and solid waste, operate carts and basic equipment, and follow strict OSHA, infection-control, and hospital protocols. You'll respond to changing assignments across shifts or departments ("swing" coverage), maintain clean, safe work areas, complete logs, and communicate with nursing and facilities staff. WM provides training, PPE, and a safety-first culture with opportunities for long-term growth in essential environmental services.

Responsibilities

• Collect, segregate, and transport medical and solid waste within hospital facilities
• Follow OSHA, infection-control, and hospital safety procedures at all times
• Operate carts and basic equipment for safe material movement and staging
• Perform swing coverage across shifts, units, or departments as assigned
• Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work and staging areas
• Complete basic logs, labels, and documentation for waste streams
• Communicate with nursing, facilities, and WM supervisors on service needs
• Inspect containers and equipment and report damage or safety concerns
• Use required PPE and participate in safety meetings and trainings
• Support WM sustainability and recycling initiatives within hospital accounts
