Perfusionist
Methodist Health System is seeking a skilled Perfusionist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team in the operating room. In this vital role, you will operate and manage cardiopulmonary bypass, ECMO, and other extracorporeal support systems during cardiac and thoracic procedures, ensuring optimal oxygenation, perfusion, and temperature management. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff in a culture grounded in integrity, compassion, and accountability. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor cardiopulmonary bypass and related extracorporeal circulation equipment during cardiac and thoracic surgeries
- Assess patient status and adjust perfusion parameters to maintain optimal oxygenation, hemodynamics, and temperature
- Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot heart-lung machines, ECMO, and associated life-support devices
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR staff to plan and execute perfusion strategies
- Maintain accurate intraoperative documentation and perfusion records per hospital and regulatory standards
- Manage blood conservation techniques, including cell salvage and autotransfusion
- Ensure equipment maintenance, quality control, and adherence to infection prevention protocols
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergent surgeries and ECMO support
- Educate clinical staff on perfusion-related procedures and emerging technologies
