Mechanical Journeyperson - Manufacturing & Production at General Motors. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical and electromechanical production equipment used to build vehicles and parts. You'll read blueprints and schematics, perform precision alignments, machining and welding, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime. Working in a safety first, unionized environment, you'll collaborate with cross functional teams to support continuous improvement, quality, and reliability in a high volume automotive plant.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electromechanical production equipment
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on machinery and tooling
  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Perform precision alignment, fitting, machining and basic welding/fabrication
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering to improve equipment reliability
  • Follow all GM and regulatory safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements
  • Document maintenance activities and update CMMS/maintenance records
  • Support equipment commissioning, upgrades and continuous improvement projects
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and proper use of tools and spare parts
