Electrical Journey Person

General Motors is seeking a skilled Mechanical Journeyperson for our Manufacturing & Production team in the automotive industry. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems on production and EV-related equipment. You will read blueprints and schematics, perform precision machining and welding, conduct preventive maintenance, and support continuous improvement for safety, quality and uptime. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will help drive innovation, reliability and efficiency in a fast-paced, safety-focused, inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic production equipment
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize uptime and reliability
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints and equipment manuals
• Perform machining, fitting, alignment and assembly of mechanical components
• Execute basic to intermediate welding and fabrication for repairs and modifications
• Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
• Collaborate with engineering, production and safety teams on improvements
• Support commissioning and modification of new and existing manufacturing equipment
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and use CMMS systems
• Follow all safety, lockout/tagout and quality procedures in a high-volume plant
