Regional CDL-A Truck Driver

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a tractor-trailer to transport goods to various regional destinations.
• Ensure timely delivery of freight as per schedule, adhering to all company and regulatory policies.
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, coordinating with dispatchers effectively.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, and ensure correct and secure loading of the vehicle.
• Document and log work/rest periods, kilometres spent driving, and retain fuel/toll receipts.
• Report defects, accidents, or violations and handle unforeseen situations from weather conditions or road emergencies.

Required Skills

• Proven work experience as a truck driver with a clean driving record.
• Strong knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
• Experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB).
• Ability to handle physical workload and to secure cargo effectively.
• Excellent geographical knowledge and route planning skills.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
