Shipping Manager

Contract Lumber, a leading building materials supplier, is seeking a Shipping Manager to lead outbound operations at our Ohio facility. In this role, you'll oversee daily shipping of lumber and construction materials, ensuring accurate, on-time deliveries for homebuilders and contractors. Responsibilities include supervising staff, scheduling loads, coordinating with operations and field teams, managing documentation, and enforcing safety and DOT compliance. You'll drive continuous improvement in efficiency, accuracy, and service while contributing to our hands-on, team-oriented, customer-focused culture.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily shipping operations for building materials and lumber orders
• Plan, schedule, and prioritize outbound loads to meet delivery deadlines
• Supervise and train shipping staff, drivers, and yard personnel
• Coordinate with sales, operations, and jobsite teams to resolve delivery issues
• Ensure accurate order picking, staging, loading, and documentation
• Monitor inventory movement and work with warehouse teams to minimize errors
• Maintain DOT, safety, and company compliance for vehicles and drivers
• Track carrier performance and manage freight costs and shipping KPIs
• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce damage
• Promote a safety-first, team-oriented culture in the shipping department
