Ontology Engineer

Vantor is seeking an Ontology Engineer to design and maintain knowledge graphs and semantic models for data driven software solutions supporting federal clients. In this TS/SCI with CI Poly role, you will model complex domains using OWL/RDF, define ontologies and taxonomies, and integrate structured and unstructured data into scalable, cloud based platforms. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams in an agile environment to improve data interoperability, discovery, and analytics. The role emphasizes craftsmanship, documentation, and ownership of solutions from design through deployment.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ontologies, taxonomies, and knowledge graphs using OWL/RDFModel complex business and mission domains to support search, analytics, and automation
• Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into semantic data platforms
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams in an agile environment
• Implement ontology driven data validation, reasoning, and inference rules
• Optimize semantic models for performance, scalability, and maintainability in cloud environments
• Document models, standards, and best practices for ontology usage and governance
• Support security and compliance requirements for TS/SCI environments, including data handling practices
