Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive pre-admission assessments for surgical and procedural patients via phone and in-person visits
  • Review medical history, medications, allergies, and risk factors to ensure safe anesthesia and procedure planning
  • Verify diagnostic tests, lab results, and consults are complete and escalate concerns to providers as needed
  • Educate patients and families on pre- and post-procedure instructions, fasting, medications, and expectations
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient readiness
  • Document assessments, education, and care plans accurately in the electronic health record
  • Identify and address barriers to care, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and understanding
  • Follow infection prevention, regulatory, and BJC Health
  • Care clinical quality standards
  • Participate in performance improvement, evidence-based practice initiatives, and staff education
